BARCO Bragi CinemaScope

Bragi CinemaScope takes its name from a 19th century poet. His poems were so charged with art and movement that later generations imagined that, after his death, Odin would appoint him as a poet of the court of Valhalla. Bragi is also the brother of the Balders projector, inheriting its design, optical components and lenses from him. Bragi has the same PULSE electronics and a software platform powered by a revolutionary LED engine.

Professional-class optical components

The Bragi system’s image quality is unsurpassed thanks to its architecture-based CinemaScope optical engine, custom-designed spherical glass elements, and improved low-dispersion glass lenses from its big brother, Balder CS. In addition, the structure and the interior of Bragi CS are made of aluminum and magnesium: 23 kg of authentic quality. The result is the best image quality ever achieved at this level.

State-of-the-art electronic components

All new Pulse electronics have been designed to process 4K with HDMI 2.0a and HDCP 2.2 and the optical engine is using the latest 0.9 «DMD DLP chipset, capable of reproducing 5,120 x 2,160 pixels on screen.

Cinemascope

Bragi CS has a unique automatic aspect ratio detection function. It will search for content at 2.40: 1 and automatically enlarge the image to fit 5,120 x 2,160 resolution and of course switch back to 16: 9 (3,840 x 2,160) if you have content in that format. The aspect ratio will also change when a 2.40: 1 movie has a menu outside of the active picture frame. You can also manually switch between the different formats.

Colors

LED colors are more saturated: our eyes interpret it as more intense and brighter colors than they physically measure. Bragi will offer colors in the P3 / DCI color mode.
