Axiom SW121HLA
Axiom SW121HLA
The SW121HLA subwoofer is designed to deliver high-quality low frequency reproduction where very high output is a key requirement, together with well defined and deep basses and fast transient response.
The SW121HLA is a high-performance powered subwoofer with a special configuration based on a small cavity behind the speaker and a very compact horn. With this special design and a particular digital processing, the SW121HLA can be used as an infra-sub and it can provide an impressive low-frequency extension and a “punchy” feeling in the upper bass range.
The SW121HLA is equipped with a 21” (533mm) transducer capable of long excursion (up to 70mm peak-to-peak) and controlled by a Double Silicon Spider. The robust copper 135mm (5.3”) voice coil is wounded in four different layers both outside and inside the coil support, then improving the long term thermal capacity of the loudspeaker. Cones are made in cellulose with a special carbon fiber treatment to increase resistance and durability.
Proel demonstrated its Axiom professional line array speaker system at Prolight + Sound in Frankfurt, winning over new converts as well as consolidating its position as a leading high performance medium scale line array.
The Axiom system consisted of 16 AX2010A powered 2 x 10-inch line array elements flown eight per side, four SW36XFA powered double 18-inch subwoofers flown two per side, and eight SW121HLA 21-inch subwoofers ground stacked four per side. All the loudspeakers featured onboard Class D amplifier modules with lightweight switch mode power supplies (SMPS) and CORE DSP processing, providing optimized performance from a range of user selectable factory presets. The system was operated over four frequency bands, with the SW121HLA subs providing very low frequency infra-bass energy below 80Hz.
The SW36XFA is designed to generate maximum output from a minimal footprint that is the same width as the AX2010 mid-high, achieved through the use of the innovative 4-inch Tetracoil – actually two separate voice coils wound on the same former and working in two discrete coaxial magnetic gaps – with performance equivalent to that of a conventional 6-inch coil, producing up to 143dB peak output.
The AX2010A is designed for a multitude of general-purpose live sound reinforcement applications where a range of audience spaces can be addressed with only one type of enclosure. It uses two high performance 10-inch woofers loaded by a hybrid transmission line that eliminates ‘boxy’ sounding mid-bass common to many conventional bass reflex designs, together with two 1.4-inch high frequency compression drivers loaded by custom waveguides for detailed and natural high frequencies with great projection capabilities in outdoor environments.
With a varied playlist of tracks ranging from guitar rock and disco to smooth jazz, the Axiom system was put through its paces on a 15-minute time slot four times a day for the four days of the show. Reports are that as a result of the demo several customers expressed keen interest in adding Axiom to rental inventory.
