KORG MONOTRON DUO

The DUO monotron with its two oscillators adds an extra dimension, delivering an even more extreme sound. Tune the oscillators in unison for a rich, thick, analog sound. Tune them at intervals for classic lead sounds and generate new effects. Korg’s classic Mono / Poly drawn X-MOD (Cross Modulation) circuit can introduce a sound from soft to extreme; everything from rich vibrato to extreme metallic sounds reminiscent of an FM synthesizer.

The monotron DUO ribbon controller keyboard now features the familiar scale function used in the KAOSSILATOR. You can use this button to select one of the four scales: chromatic, major, minor, or off. Select the chromatic scale to play precise notes like on a piano, or major or minor to generate musically coherent phrases by simply sliding your finger across the keyboard

The distinctive timbre of an analog filter (VCF) can dramatically alter and enrich the sound. The monotron DUO uses the same VCF circuitry as KORG’s acclaimed and classic MS-10 and MS-20 Semi Modular Synthesizers. Originally released more than 30 years ago, these instruments are still coveted today for their aggressive and dynamic filters. The Cutoff VCF control sets the frequency or timbre of the filter; the VCF Peak control adds emphasis. A powerful filter is an essential aspect of any analog synthesizer, applying dramatic tonal changes to the sound and projecting a strong personality that stands out in any live performance.

A miniature speaker is built into the DUO monotron. Along with battery operation and compact size, this feature allows you to enjoy the sound of monotron DUO analog synthesis with your friends, anywhere, anytime. There’s also a headphone output that you can use for private practice, creating sounds at home, for recording, or for connecting to an amplifier or powered monitors.

he AUX input connector built into the compact monotron DUO body allows any audio source to be incorporated into the monotron DUO signal path, directly before the analog filter.

This provides a great way to connect a KAOSSILATOR, guitar or digital audio player to the monotron and enjoy the most radical filter effects.
